Interpreter services at Mayo Clinic in Arizona
Studies have shown that clear communication between patients and their health care teams can improve patient outcomes.
That's why Mayo Clinic offers trained interpreters for 200-plus languages (including ASL) at no charge. The goal is to remove any communication barriers that can prevent patients from finding the answers they need.
Whether you're visiting from abroad or next door, if you or your loved one feels more comfortable speaking in a language other than English, tell Mayo Clinic registration staff that you will need an interpreter.
A member of the on-site team of medical interpreters can meet you in person, to help interpret during your appointment. Members of this team are fluent in a variety of languages, including Spanish, Arabic and Mandarin (Chinese).
If an in-person interpreter that speaks your preferred language is unavailable, interpreters may be available by video or phone.

Services for people with hearing impairments
Mayo Clinic has ASL interpreters on staff, and video interpreting is available to Mayo patients. If you need this service, tell Mayo Clinic registration staff when you schedule your appointment. Volume-controlled telephones and telecommunication devices for the deaf (TDDs) are also available for your use.
